My Best Friend
The visit I had, let me tell you
Was not ordinary
I changed a beast into a gentle
man
Literally!
By removing the curse
Quite a nasty one if you insist on
knowing!
By first glance,
The word beast was nothing
For what this thing was
Little did I know
He has such a warm heart
That was covered by guilt and
shame
After a few rough encounters
Finally, he smiled at me
I had to do a double take to make
sure!
With each passing day,
My days became a blooming flower,
After being suppressed by his
guilt for years,
When he laughed,
He laughed for 20 minutes straight
He laughed for 20 minutes straight
Don’t worry, I timed it to make
sure.
Little did I know,
He was waiting for me to say the
magical words,
“You are my best friend”
How foolish was I
I knew I was his best friend
I scolded myself as to why I did
not say it earlier!
When he transformed
Into a boy with scruffy hair,
With sea-like eyes,
He was like the brother I never
had
Beads rolling down our faces like
a stream,
He felt like he could live his
live again
But then the thought that always
came to him came
Like a clock that it stuck on one
time
The beads came more frequently
Like a rainfall,
He cried in my lap,
And knew the grave mistake he made
years back
He knows now to move forward
But if he forgets, as he tends to,
His best friend always has his
back!
