The List Poem

The Jacket
The jacket with the lost button.
The jacket with threads dangling.
The gray, comfy jacket.
The jacket with too much weight.
The jacket that I traded with a sweater.
With never-ending sleeves.
The one-season apparel.
Who likes to protect.
The jacket with the white dots.
The jacket with the red lining.
The jacket I looked for
After many obstacles.
The jacket who calls out to me
Every morning with a purpose.
The jacket that rescues me.
The jacket that betrays me
By bending to the wind’s call.
The jacket whose pockets
Need to be a tad bit deeper.
The jacket with many creases.
The jacket that falls off of any hanger.
The jacket whose hood is pointless.
The circumference of a cookie
Is how effective the jacket’s hood is.
The jacket that has extra buttons
That is not the right size
Of any of the buttons on the jacket.
The jacket that makes me chuckle
Every time it almost makes me trip.
The jacket that has supported me
For many years.
My jacket.
My beloved jacket.
