The Chai Incident or Accident? (Chapter 2)
To spill out our
creativity
In the middle of the night.
The two bulbs in the room
Flickered to us,
Whispering that we
have to
Get ready for bed.
Pillow fights, yelling,
and chai
Filled the space to no end
Four adults and seven
children
In one apartment.
The small, brown couch
Only cared for the adults.
The children plopped on
the floor
And obviously,
Annoyed our parents.
That is for sure in the
job description
Of five-year-olds.
The hot, steaming,
chai bellowed
Its arrival by
burning us to our very core.
Whose fault it was?
Let’s just say it was the
white walls.

Song with Figurative Language
The extremely popular song that I love is called “Moves like
Jagger”. An example of figurative language is the line “I got the moves like jagger”.
This is an example of a simile. Another example is a hyperbole by this line, “Take
me by the tongue”. Another example is the line “Kiss me ‘til you’re drunk”.
This is an example of a hyperbole because it is an exaggeration. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEPTlhBmwRg

The List Poem
The Jacket
The jacket with the
lost button.
The jacket with
threads dangling.
The gray, comfy
jacket.
The jacket with too
much weight.
The jacket that I
traded with a sweater.
With never-ending
sleeves.
The one-season
apparel.
Who likes to protect.
The jacket with the
white dots.
The jacket with the
red lining.
The jacket I looked
for
After many obstacles.
The jacket who calls
out to me
Every morning with a
purpose.
The jacket that rescues
me.
The jacket that
betrays me
By bending to the
wind’s call.
The jacket whose pockets
Need to be a tad bit
deeper.
The jacket with many
creases.
The jacket that falls
off of any hanger.
The jacket whose hood
is pointless.
The circumference of
a cookie
Is how effective the
jacket’s hood is.
The jacket that has
extra buttons
That is not the right
size
Of any of the buttons
on the jacket.
The jacket that makes
me chuckle
Every time it almost
makes me trip.
The jacket that has
supported me
For many years.
My jacket.
My beloved jacket.
